Profit I by Jean Michel Basquiat was made in 1982 at the height of his fame. This piece is in the style of neo-expressionism. It mixes in historical ideas with urban graffiti work. He said it became some sort of self portrait and part voodoo shaman. I really liked his use of colors, using the primary colors in contrast with the black makes the figure pop out. I also like how the halo on the figure, sort of looks like it has thorns. I like how there is deep meaning behind his work is and how unique his art is.
