The "Map of China" by Ai Weiwei was made from ironwood of a Qing Dynasty temple. It was constructed from different pieces of wood using a mortise-and-tenon joinery technique. The map shows the Mainland China, Taiwan, and Hainan Island. The artwork was sold for $1.5 million in Hong Kong. I really liked how he incorporated the his heritage into his artwork and used the wood from historical objects.
