Ai Weiwei
I chose this photograph due to the inherent controversial nature of the subject. In this photograph, Weiwei mimicked "...the indelible image of a drowned three-year-old Syrian child named Alan Kurdi, who became emblematic of the Syrian refugee crisis in September 2015." Not only is this image simply powerful to look at, but it resonates with people everywhere considering the scope of the Syrian crisis. While some people were offended by this image, it nonetheless has done the work of attracting attention to the cause that it stands for. It is a very emotional piece, and I think any work that can make you feel unnerved is something worth looking at.
