Ai Weiwei: Fountain of Light
I chose the Fountain of Light designed by Ai Weiwei that is currently a floating structure in the Albert Dock. This object was designed to take the form of a spectacular chandelier, inspired by Tatlin's Monument to he Third International. The piece inspired me because of how it is actually tilting but is expressing that the string lights are pulling it to stay standing. The message behind the piece is for the ambitions of a brave new world with architecture that would match the new age. It is a symbol of the radical change that is being taken place in China. The lights are very beautiful and I enjoy how Ai was able to create this piece.
